Eyes On The Road Hands On The Wheel
is not an option, but
a necessity
All videos presented here are Copyrighted material
The best illustration for drivers to keep your eyes
on the road and ands on the wheel is what other
drivers do. The videos below illustrates two
important reasons for our HOWITM.
These videos where compiled from
real-driving-un-staged events. Our library
ranges from 1994 through present time and while
driving in Europe and the USA, Canada and Mexico.
The first illustration is the noise level in a new
car that makes it nearly impossible to deploy Speech
Recognition with automotive grade reliability. The
noise level and type will change in a vehicle as the
surface road changes., e.g. wet pavement, dry
pavement, cement, asphalt etc.
The other illustration is the need to keep eyes on
the road, even when it is simply a straight and
lightly traveled road, and that's due to what others
are doing.
Two Lanes Changes
In the video, an impatient driver going
much faster then the speed limit cut off the traffic
and changes lane, then bullying the vehicle in front
of him he forced the other driver to change lanes,
just in time for him to change lane him self. May
not be unusual on its own, but was the driver in our
vehicle to be looking away, he wouldn't have seen
the vehicle cuts him off and he wouldn't have let
off the gas pedal just enough to let the truck
change lanes safely. Peripheral vision of the
driver which helped avoid the problem is not
documented in the video.

Hidden Danger
In the video, a car is blocked almost completely by
objects in a field and the inside rear view mirror
of the subject car. To add to the problem, the
blocked car, a white sable, emerges from a side road
from the road and the driver totally disobeys the
stop sign.

Short Notice
in the video, a driver changes lane suddenly and
squeeze into the traffic. Peripheral vision of the
driver which helped avoid the problem is not
documented in the video. Was the driver
of the subject vehicle busy with eyes off the road,
the peripheral vision would have not help him avoid
an accident

Hood flies open
What can go wrong on a clear sunny day drive in the
neighborhood? A lot. In this video, two
young ladies passed out test minivan on a 30 MPH
speed limit street. and then, just of the
blue, their car hood flies open just as they are
about to cross a railroad crossing.
Anything can happen and when it comes to any driver,
it only needs to happen once. Eyes On The Road
and Hands On The Wheel is the best situation a
driver can be in when the unexpected happens.
