Company’s beginning

Applikompt, Applied Computer Technologies,  is based in a metro Detroit, Michigan USA.   Initially formed in 1984/85 by Wayne State University Students as a DBA in the city of Detroit and later, was formally incorporated as a Michigan S corporation in 1986.  The company is privately held and financed.

 Leadership

The company is privately owned by the founder Mr. Mouhamad A. Naboulsi .  The company is self financed from private funding, non-telematic related Automotive, IT and Project management consultancy.

The company has Six investors that are close friends from college days and family members.  Their background is Hardware, Software, GPS and Automotive engineering and Medical professionals.

 Early History

Earlier, when we were new company,1985-1987, we designed circuits and software to customers, but we also kept busy by developing proof of concepts that expressed our interests and vision. Some of these include:

  1. Transferring images captured by cameras using phone lines,(1984)
  2. Using Credit card at a fuel pump to dispense Gas instead of waiting in line to be helped by one attendant, (1985)
  3. On Board/Portable Computerized Driver Assistant/Auto navigation, with three Hot help buttons, G for Gas, H for Hospital and P for Police ( May through Aug 1985).  By end of 1985 the system grew to become a full fledge driver assistant that dealt with steering wheel controls, Intersection specific warnings, tire pressure monitoring, blind spot monitoring, text to speech information and graphical representation of the vehicle environment, but not necessarily by that order..
  4. Graphical environment for processing words, images, and engineering charting and drawing on the same screen and without switching modes or applications. (1986)
  5. Automatically power a PC or a tape recorder after determining if the incoming call is a call by human or a computer, (1986)

 Recent History

In light of our experiences with automotive, IT and travel, (First in vehicle portable computer 1985, Second in vehicle  portable computer 1989 (MAZDA project), first distracted car phone call, fall 1990), we determined that the mobility of data, voice and information is bound to increase and with that the danger of distraction due to multitasking while driving.  With that convergence in mind, came clearer focus, mobility of technology and portability of data with safe in vehicle deployment, began after two years of studies and evaluation.  The project Code Name was "Mobility"

The "Mobility" project momentum reached a critical mass when the public and government became painfully aware of Telematic negative effect on driving and safety. We regrouped and refocused on the heart of the problem, rather on the hardware and form factor and that's what we call Safe Telematic deployment in vehicles, STMCGatewayTM.

We have one patent granted and other trademarks granted and pending in the U.S., EU and Japan.

 Current Business Focus

We consider our self to be an Intellectual Property house.  We are not manufacturers, designer house.  But we partner with the best Michigan has to offer in Automotive Engineering and manufacturing for projects that require world class quality.  We intend to continue building our IP portfolio around solutions that we are uniquely qualified to fill.  We are building skills in identifying and developing Brain vs. Brawn concepts that will cover several disciplines.

Our consulting service in automotive area (other then human factor), IT area and Project & Process management areas , is still a valuable source of income to the company

Our IPs are available for licensing and other form of compensation.  We are currently talking to potential partners experienced in finance, marketing and manufacturing to exploit our IP for free, in return for shares in a “third entity-joint venture companies”.
